Promotion of Education (Supplementary Education/ After School Program)

Considering education is important in determining a child future, it is essential to provide them a well-rounded educational experience. Traditional school hours might not always be enough to meet each student's requirements and interests.

Since December 2020, we have been running after-school supplementary education programme for children aged between 5- 14 years at Saarthi Trust Learning Center, Patna. We started the journey with 10 children in December 2020 and now you will be glad to know that we are teaching 55 children from underprivileged society as on date. More than 50 children are on waiting list because of lack of infrastructure and resources.

At the Learning Center we impart education to children in between 5-14 years of age. The children attain knowledge of Maths, Science, English, Computers, Painting & sketching, Pottery, Indoor games, Dance & Music.

Promote holistic development by giving children the chance to pursue their interests and gain knowledge outside classroom, particularly through Arts, Sports, Leadership, and community service.

Encourage Lifelong Learning: Cultivate a passion for learning by offering interactive activities that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving,

Program Components:

1.  Academic Support :-

After-school tutoring sessions with qualified teachers for specific subjects wherein students struggle the most.

Study groups and peer mentoring to promote collaborative learning and foster academic progress.

Test preparation classes to help students excel in standardised tests.

2.  Enrichment Activities :-

Arts and Crafts: Workshops on painting, drawing, music, dance, drama, and other creative forms to nurture artistic talents and self-expression.

3.  Sports and Physical Fitness:

Establish partnerships with local sports organisations to offer athletic programs that promote physical health, teamwork, discipline, and leadership.

4.  STEM Initiatives:

Engage students in hands-on experiments, coding workshops, robotics competitions, and science fairs to spark their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

5.  Leadership Development:

Organize workshops on elective communication, problem-solving, time management, and team-building skills to instill leadership qualities. Saarthi learning center has a Child PARLIAMENT , which constitute of Prime Minister and seven Ministers with specific role and responsibility of their respective departments .

6.  Community Engagement:

Volunteering Opportunities: Collaborate with local organizations to provide community service opportunities, such as gardening, fundraising, or mentoring younger students.

7.  Field Trips and Cultural Experiences:

Arrange visits to museums, science centers, historical sites, and educational events to broaden students' horizons and encourage cultural appreciation.

Support for the students of Saarthi Learning Center

Apart from studies we also fulfil the basic needs of children and provide them with Clothes, Sweaters, Jackets, T-shirt, Shoes, Blanket, Dry ration, Stationeries, Books, Drawing Book, School Bag etc.

Winter kit distribution program

a. Winter Kits was distributed to all 80 students who are enrolled in the learning centre. The kit included full jacket, sports shoes, half sweater, blanket, winter cap, muffler, gloves, two pair socks etc. This program was sponsored by the ICICI Foundation.

b. With the support of NTPC, we have distributed school bags, sweaters, blankets etc to the students of learning center.

Distribution of Dry Ration and First aid kit

Ever since establishment of Saarthi Trust Dry Ration packets containing 17 items and first aid kits are distributed to all the students of Saarthi Learning Centre on 6th June every year. Our objective through this initiative is to provide food items so that household expenses on groceries is reduced. The list of an items are as follows.

Event in the center: The renowned Bihar based cartoonist Mr. Pawan Kumar with the support of Patna Municipal Corporation has organised a drawing competition in the Saarthi Learning Center where all the students actively participated in the program. Theme of the competition was Swach- Bharat Abhiyan. The children came up with different and unique thoughts through their paintings.

Promotion of Rural Sports

Sports develop team spirit, camaraderie, killer instinct, discipline and physical fitness. In order to create a better culture for sports among Rural areas Saarthi Trust organised Training camps and Two mega tournaments of FOOTBALL & CRICKET at Chiraiya and Patahi Block of East Champaran District of Bihar. Both these Training camps and Tournaments were organised, maintaining the highest standard of Professionalism, with excellent facility, ambience and infrastructure in the rural areas. The scale of the Tournament was such that, this level of tournaments are rarely organised even in the state capital, Patna.

Distribution of Dry Ration and First aid kit

In December 2022 Saarthi Trust organised a Block level Football Tournament Comprising of 4 football teams at Chiraiya block , East Champaran . Saarthi Trust distributed, Football boots, Track suit, Dry fit Jersey & shorts, Bag and other Accessories including football kit to all the 64 players and match referee who participated in the tournament . The final was attended by a capacity crowd of Ten Thousand. The guest of honour was the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police & DDC of EAST Champaran District alongwith Mukhiyas and Sarpanch of many panchayats.

Saarthi Cup Cricket Tournament

In March 2023 a mega cricket tournament comprising of 10 panchayat teams of Patahi Block, East Champaran District was organised. The matches were played under flood lights following the rules and regulations of ICC. Saarthi Trust Distributed cricket colour dress (upper &lower), Cricket shoes , Cap , Cricket kit which included Cricket bats , Batting gloves , Wicket keeping gloves ,Stumps and other accessories to all the 160 participating players including match officials and volunteers . The final match was attended by a capacity crowd of Fifteen Thousand people. The District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police & DDC, Mukhiya and Sarpanch of various panchayats of EAST CHAMPARAN graced the occasion.

Scholarship Program for Medical Aspirants

Saarthi trust was established during the Covid 19 pandemic in June 2020 and looking at the sufferings of people due to Covid19, Saarthi Trust realised that we needed more Doctors to serve humanity .

Henceforth, In FY 21-22 we provided Scholarships in the form of Financial assistance to 15 underprivileged Children appearing for Medical Entrance Test 2022 (NEET Exam).The students were selected after conducting a written Test in collaboration with our knowledge partner Goal Education Service, Patna . children coming from economically weak families were given priority . The students were put up in a top class Residential Coaching facility in Goal Institute Patna spread over 15 acres. Out of the 15 students who appeared in 2023 NEET Medical Entrance Exam , 13 students were selected in top class Govt MBBS College spread all over India and Two students were selected in Govt Dental College .

In FY 22-23 As part of our scholarship programme for Medical Aspirants , out of 16 students, 15 students were selected for Top Class Govt MBBS College, whereas one student was selected for Govt Dental College. Same selection process were followed, like in FY 21-22

Computer Skill Training Program Exclusive for Girls

The computer training centre was initiated on 23rd December 2021. The computer program was inaugurated by the Honourable Bihar Building Construction Minister Dr Ashok Chowdhary. This program is exclusively designed for adolescent girls who belong to the most marginalised community. Mr. Chowdhary appreciated the contribution of Saarthi for the upliftment of weaker sections.

In our quest to empower women, since December 2021, we have been running a skill-based job-oriented computer education program, for 40 Adolescent Girls from marginalised community, in two batches every year. The duration of the course is of six months. This course provides employment opportunity to the young Girls from marginalised community. This program has been designed keeping in mind the objectives and curriculum of “Kaushal Yuva Program”, a course of Bihar Skill Development Mission. The Girls are selected only if they are from economically weak family. Most of the Girls were exposed to Computers for the first time at our Learning Center.
